What is the best way to start MMA training?

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

I have 2 years experience and knowledge of Tae Kwon Do, and I’m ready to move onto MMA. I want to know what training I should do to prepare for it. I’m planning on going for Amateur fighter, I think I would do better on the standing strikes and kicks, so if any advice on how to go about preparing please let me know.
I didn’t just start Tae Kwon Do, I did it a while ago

You need to realize there are two basic aspects to mma. Stand up and Ground. Sooooo… Tae Kwon Do is a form of stand up. It is not know to be one of the most popular to transition into an MMA career, but then again neither was karate until a man by the name of Machida came along. The two most traditional styles of stand up studied for MMA are Muay Thai and Boxing/Kick Boxing. I would look into one of those. Then there is your ground game… BJJ, Submission Wrestling,Collegiate wrestling, Judo(I put it hear all though a great deal of it deals with take downs and standing) the list goes on. You’ll need to find a style that fits you. I love BJJ and JJJ(Japanese Jiu Jitsu) I also train kick boxing and I am now incorporating a bit of Muay Thai clinch as well… But this is what works for me. You’ll need to find what works for you.
With all that said, you’ll know very quickly weather or not this is for you. When you find the style that fits you, you’ll know. If your going to take it seriously it will consume your life and if you have a family make sure they are on board for the life change and a minimal commitment of 4-6 hours a day 6 days a week to train. Yes that much as an amateur with your weight training and cardio.

Detailed Information on Methylmalonic Aciduria

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

Methylmalonic acidemia (MMA), also called methylmalonic aciduria. Methylmalonic Aciduria is a disorder of amino acid metabolism, involving a defect in the conversion of methylmalonyl-coenzyme A (CoA) to succinyl-CoA. This condition occurs in an estimated 1 in 50,000 to 100,000 people. About 1 in 25,000 – 48,000 babies are born with this condition. Methylmalonic Aciduria affects boys and girls similarly. Methylmalonic Aciduria is an inherited disorder in which the body is unable to process certain proteins and fats (lipids) properly. A severe nutritional deficiency of vitamin B12 can also result in methylmalonic aciduria.

Methylmalonyl CoA requires vitamin B12 to form succinyl-CoA. The effects of methylmalonic acidemia, which usually appear in early infancy, vary from mild to life-threatening. Symptoms of Methylmalonic Aciduria usually begin in the first few months of life. Affected child’s experience vomiting, dehydration, weak muscle tone (hypotonia), excessive tiredness (lethargy), and failure to gain weight and grow at the expected rate (failure to thrive). Babies may appear normal at birth, but develop symptoms once start eating more protein, which can cause the condition to get worse.

Long-term complications can include feeding problems, mental retardation, chronic kidney disease, and inflaMMAtion of the pancreas (pancreatitis). Parents or care-givers of a child with a first seizure should instantly seek medical attention. Treatment of Methylmalonic Aciduria includes a carefully controlled diet, including a low-protein regimen and/or restriction of isoleucine, valine, and threonine. A low-protein maintenance diet can help to reduce recurrent attacks of acidemia. Prevention is better than cure. Patients should also avoid people who are sick. Limit protein catabolism during acute metabolic crises.

Stop usual protein intake and intravenously administer generous fluid and glucose if necessary. Carnitine supplement may also be advised for some affected indivuduals. Parents of a child with this disorder or couples desiring children who have a known family history of this disorder should seek information on genetic counseling. Provide calcium and multivitamin supplementation to avoid osteopenia and vitamin deficiency, respectively. Medical food supplementation may be needed. Physical and occupational therapist may help in functionally retraining patients.

What is a mma fight that displays great judo?

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

I haven’t been watching mma for to long and i was wondering if there are any fights that display great Judo.
I once saw this fight of Karo Parisyan against someone but i just can’t remember against who i know Karo lost because of the judges, but that was actually the only fight (that i have seen) that showed great judo techniques and im intrested in more of those fights.

There are definetly some fights out there to choose from that display some great/good Judo. There are several Judo MMA fighters to choose from: Hidehiko Yoshida, Karo Paryisan, Yoshihiro Aikiyama, Jim Wallhead, Ferrid Khmer, Manny Gamburyan, Pawel Nastula, Ben Spijkers, Hector Lombard, Makoto Takimoto, Kazuhiro Nakamura, Dong Sik Yoon, Yoshiyuki Yoshida, Nayoa Ogawa, etc. As far as the individual fights it’s hard to pick just one.

1. Hidehiko Yoshida vs. Don Frye.

2. Kazuhiro Nakamura vs. Kevin Randleman.

3. Any Karo Payrisan fight just about. He does good Judo in almost all of his fights. I’ve watched several and there is always Judo throws, takedowns, and groundwork.

4. Yoshihrio Akiyama vs. Chris Leben

5. Yoshirhiro Akiyama vs. Melvin Manhoef

6. Ben Spijkers vs. Erik Paulson

Here’s a website: www.MMAjudo.net it has several Judo MMA fighters and their fights on there. It has a lot of Karo Paryisan’s fights in it. It’s hard to pick just one off the top of my head. But, look around at the Judo MMA fighters fights. You will see Judo in action with it’s throws and groundwork.

Karo’s fights really are what you are looking for. I just having seen a MMA fighter that uses Judo better than Karo (in MMA). Just go to that website and watch several of his fights. His really early fights when he was 16 or so show some good Judo. He wasn’t such a mixed martial martial artist back then and was more pure Judo.
